This week, Hallmark turns 101 and our centennial year comes to a fulfilling close. The past year has been a whirlwind of celebrations, literally spanning the globe, as Hallmark employees around the world took part in Hallmark’s 100th birthday.
While the locations and languages differed, many of those celebrations shared similar elements: balloons, birthday cake (or cupcakes!), singing “Happy Birthday,” colorful streamers and ribbons, and often, our friends hoops&yoyo.
Each location also had a visit from either Don Hall, Jr., our CEO, or his brother, David Hall, president of the North American business. They are grandsons of Hallmark’s founder, J.C. Hall, making them the third generation of family leaders at Hallmark.
As Don and Dave traveled on their “world tour” this year, they interacted with Hallmarkers who share a common vision for helping people connect with each other. When speaking of his experience, Don likes to quote a line from a poem by Dr. Maya Angelou: “We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.”
